The chart depicts numerically and visually the development of the Brazilian intellectual property legal system over the past 25 years.
Kasznar Leonardos has created a scoring system of IP milestones gathered in the chart provided in the “EVENTS” section. The initial milestone is 100 points, as it refers to the creation of the Brazilian IP Law, on May 14th, 1996. Since then, the chart follows the development of the subject by assigning points to each occurrence favorable to intellectual property rights in Brazil. On the other hand, the score on the chart is reduced whenever there is an event unfavorable to the strength of Intellectual property rights in Brazil.
This way, it is possible to access a realistic panorama of Brazil’s achievements and setbacks concerning the protection of intellectual property throughout the years.
